SINGER and activist, Charly Boy, paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, on what would have been his birthday.
On September 22, 2024, Charly Boy shared a touching message on Instagram, accompanied by photos of them together.
"This is for my hard/loving late father; we love and miss you so much, Dad. Today being your special day, I just want to say how much we miss you and thank you for shaping me into the person I am today. If no be the rough way u take follow me, I for don lost," Charly Boy wrote.
He added, "Heaven is lucky to have you. Happy Birthday, Dad, I’ll never forget everything you did for me and my siblings."
Charly Boy has been open about his complicated relationship with his father. In a 2023 episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, he shared how his father's strong religious beliefs impacted his upbringing, guiding him toward a life that didn't align with his true self. He also discussed their tense relationship on the With Chude podcast in September 2024.
Despite their differences, Charly Boy expressed gratitude for his father's influence. "Ur name will never be forgotten; we will make sure of that," he wrote.
