REALITY TV star, Mercy Eke, winner of Big Brother Naija season 4, has revealed that she had over ₦100 million in her account with Heritage Bank, which is now affected by the bank's crisis.
On June 6, 2024, Eke took to social media to express her concerns, saying, "I really don’t know how to react about this…I have been hoping for the best...thinking there’s a way out."
Her followers responded with questions and reassurances, with one fan mentioning that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) prioritises accounts with lower balances, which Eke found concerning.
"That’s the problem. How can they pay 5 million from someone’s millions?" she asked. When asked if she had an account with Heritage Bank, Eke confirmed, adding that she had no choice but to open an account with the bank due to their sponsorship of Big Brother Naija during her season.
"I do…and have above 100m with them," she revealed. "That was the bank that sponsored BBN during my set, for them to pay our money we were advised to open an account with them… stupid me went ahead and funded the account…don’t worry I’m full of regrets right now," Eke explained, expressing her frustration and disappointment.
