AFROBEAT artist, Seun Kuti has sparked controversy with his recent social media posts, questioning the success and wealth of his peers in the music industry.
Kuti expressed frustration, asking how young musicians are earning their money, particularly when he struggled to build a house after 20 years of touring.
Kuti also addressed allegations that aspiring musicians compromise their integrity by engaging in same-gender relationships to advance their careers.
"I'd rather remain poor than engage in relationships with my own gender to thrive in music and finance," he stated. He criticised colleagues who allegedly prioritise wealth over artistic integrity.
Kuti's comments follow a public disagreement with musician Samklef. Addressing naysayers, Kuti said, "Some of those gossiping about me are in need... begging for food in America and others stealing in Nigeria."
He emphasised his commitment to staying true to himself, even if it meant not achieving mainstream success. Kuti's outspoken views have ignited debate within the music industry.
