Chapel of Light holds 2nd quarter edition of LASU PRAYS

THE Chapel of Light at Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo has hosted the second quarter edition of LASU Prays, which is a one-hour prayer event aimed to uplift prayers for the University, its management, staff, students, and stakeholders.

The programme commenced on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with opening prayers led by Prof. Tosin Adu, the immediate past Chaplain. The Chapel of Light Choir, under the leadership of Mrs Iyanu Akindele-Obe, the choir mistress, rendered soul-lifting praises and worship songs.

While speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, represented by Prof. Adenike Omotunde Boyo, the Deputy VC Administration, expressed her delight in welcoming the clerics, staff, and students who deemed it worthy to pray for LASU. She emphasised the importance of prayer as the key to achieving meaningful success in life and reiterated her declaration from 2021 that Christ holds the ultimate control in running the institution.

The guest minister for the event was Pastor Charles Smart, the Zonal Pastor of RCCG, Lagos Province 30. He delivered an inspiring message, drawing upon various Bible readings. Pastor Smart fervently prayed for the well-being of LASU and its members, emphasising the importance of maintaining faith in God and remaining in constant prayer.

Prof. Pius Akhimien, the HOD of the Department of English Language, expressed gratitude to all attendees and delivered a vote of thanks. The closing benediction was given by the Chaplain, Prof. Kunle Ogabi.

The LASU Prays program was well-attended by members of the University management team, professors, staff, students, and friends of LASU.
