Faculty of Science Dean charges new students to be innovative

THE Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Moses Akanbi, has urged newly admitted students across various Departments in the Faculty to cultivate a spirit of innovation and inventiveness during their four years at the university.

Addressing attendees at the orientation programme for the 2023/2024 academic session on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium at the main campus in Ojo, Lagos, Prof. Akanbi emphasised the importance of innovation in academic pursuits. He also officially welcomed parents and offered insights on how they could support their children to successfully navigate their academic journey. Furthermore, Prof. Akanbi urged students to pay meticulous attention to instructions and regulations as they embark on their academic journey, ensuring a smooth and productive experience throughout their stay.

On her part, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, represented by Prof. Akanbi, commended the Faculty for organising the orientation programme, emphasising the administration's dedication to student welfare.lasu-gate

Highlighting the University's vision to become the premier institution in West Africa, the Vice-Chancellor revealed the introduction of twenty-two new programmes in the 2023/2024 academic session, with five of these programmes housed within the Faculty of Science. She encouraged students to remain diligent, focus on their studies, and steer clear of detrimental behaviours.

The orientation programme featured lectures delivered by senior Faculty members from within and outside the Faculty, covering various topics pertinent to the student's academic journey.

In attendance were officials from relevant Directorates and Centres, Heads of Departments within the Faculty, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff members.
