THE General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr Babatunde Ajayi, led a delegation of officials from the Agency on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, at her office in Lagos.
The visit, which took place on Monday, March 25 2024, aimed to explore collaboration opportunities between LASEPA and Lagos State University (LASU) in research, knowledge exchange, and data-gathering for environmental protection and sustainability.
During the visit, Dr Ajayi expressed the Agency's interest in partnering with LASU to develop research-based solutions that can drive policy development for environmental protection and sustainability. The collaboration would involve sharing expertise, conducting joint research, and exchanging knowledge on areas of mutual interest.
On her part, Prof. Olatunji-Bello welcomed the LASEPA team and expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the Agency. She acknowledged the importance of such partnerships in fostering environmental protection and sustainability, highlighting the potential benefits that could arise from combining the resources and expertise of both institutions.
The LASEPA team included notable officials such as Mrs Tolulope Adebowale, the Executive Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Environmental Protection, Mrs Olabisi Shonibare, the Director of Laboratory Services, Mrs M Abdulwarees-Solanke, the Director of Research and Development, and Dr Olisa Bukonla, the Head of Partnerships, Grants Management, and Innovation, among others.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, along with Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Omotunde Boyo, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, the Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, and Prof. Oseni Afisi, the Director of the Directorate of Special Interventions.
The visit concluded with Dr Lateef Shekoni, the Deputy Registrar of the Vice-Chancellor's Office, expressing gratitude on behalf of the University and appreciating the LASEPA team for their visit. The meeting marks an important step towards fostering a partnership between LASEPA and LASU, leveraging their respective strengths to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices in Lagos State and beyond.
