LASRRA commends LASU on dedicated registration centre

THE Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has applauded the establishment of a dedicated registration centre at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo Campus, in line with its efforts to scale up registration and provide demographic data for efficient planning and proper allocation of resources in the State.

While speaking at the commissioning on Monday, February 5, 2024, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola, commended the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, for her swift response in the setting up of the centre and handing it over to the Agency.

Adebiyi-Abiola, who was represented by the Head of Registration, LASRRA, Mrs Bolanle Lawal, said that the project is an indication that all MDAs of the State Government are partners in progress. She added that the Agency is looking to other Lagos State Institutions to do the same.

The General Manager reiterated that the registration is free and that registrants should follow up with the card pick-up by checking with the shortcode *347*641#, saying, “Send this to the number used while registering and the status of your LAG- ID card is revealed. Please make sure that you pick up this card as soon as it is ready so that you can enjoy the benefits that come with it”.8534

Meanwhile, in her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, stated that the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have to partner to get results that will further enhance the development of the State.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Olufunso Omobitan, appealed to the students and members of staff to make sure that they seize the opportunity to register and validate as the Agency has deemed it necessary to bring the exercise to their doorstep.8532

She said that there would be no excuse for not registering by students and all members of staff, including residents that have come to transact one business or the other on the Campus.

While maintaining that students and members of staff on the Epe Campus will soon enjoy the same privilege as a space will be created for them too, she promised that the Institution will continue to sensitise the students on the importance and benefits of the registration.

Other dignitaries present at the commissioning and handover ceremony include the Deputy Registrar, Dr Lateef Sekoni, and other senior management staff of the Institution.
