LASU honours outstanding students

THE Lagos State University held its 27th Convocation Ceremony at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo, Lagos, on  Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The event saw the awarding of diplomas, first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and master's degrees to deserving students.

The Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. FANU presented the proceedings, while the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello delivered an inspiring opening remark. She urged the students to conduct themselves with integrity, build their confidence, and strive for excellence. She also cautioned them against gratification and encouraged them to remain firm in their convictions.

Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, the overall best graduating student, delivered a heartfelt valedictory speech. He shared his journey from a humble background to achieving academic success, defying expectations and stereotypes. He thanked the University community and inspired his fellow graduates to chase their dreams.

The Vice-Chancellor presented awards to the best graduating students, including Olaniyi, who received a prize of ₦500,000. Each faculty's best graduating student received ₦100,000.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Pro-Chancellor, Sir David Sunmonu, and Chancellor, Prof. Gbolahan Elias, SAN.

The ceremony concluded with the Vice-Chancellor's declaration, marking a milestone in the academic journey of the graduating students.
