LASU named among 49 varsities to get FG’s broadband connectivity

IN a bid to improve internet connectivity in some selected places in the country, the Lagos State University (LASU) has been named among the 49 tertiary institutions in Nigeria that will benefit from the provision of broadband connectivity awarded by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
 
According to media reports, other beneficiaries of the special intervention include six markets and 20 airports across the country.

The Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, received the Certificate of Award of the intervention presented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, at the main auditorium of the Communications and Digital Economy Complex, Mbora District in Abuja on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

While giving her acceptance speech, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello thanked the Minister, as well as the Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande, for finding LASU worthy of the intervention, adding that "... the provision of broadband connectivity in our University will improve learning and research, and enhance the full digitalisation of our processes." 

She was accompanied to the award ceremony by the Acting Director, Directorate of Special Interventions, Dr Oseni Afisi, and the Admin. Officer II/Protocol in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Miss Blessings Awaritakpor.
