LASU VC congratulates Kappo Samuel on new appointment

Kappo, a Computer Science graduate from LASU, previously served as the President of the Lagos State Students Union (LASUSU) in the 2016/2017 academic session and will now serve as SSA to Sanwo-Olu on Tertiary Education.

THE Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, was thrilled to hear about the appointment of one of LASU's staff members, Mr Samuel Olawale Kappo.

Note that Mr Kappo will now serve as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Tertiary Education.

Governor Sanwo-Olu announced this on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, during a one-day interactive session with Students Union Leaders and stakeholders in Lagos State, organised by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, and themed ‘Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and Prospects for Youth Development’. 

Meanwhile, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, speaking on behalf of the University community, extended her congratulations to Kappo, emphasising his dedication and commitment to improving students' lives in the State's tertiary institutions.

She believed Kappo's previous experience as a student leader and public servant would enable him to excel in his new role. She also wished him wisdom and success in his duties, hoping his achievements would inspire more young people.

Kappo, a Computer Science graduate from LASU, previously served as the President of the Lagos State Students Union (LASUSU) in the 2016/2017 academic session. He later became the Southwest Coordinator of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) from 2019 to 2021.

Currently, he works as a Systems Analyst at the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) at Lagos State University.
