THE Lagos State University (LASU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has congratulated Prof. Samuel Odewumi from the School of Transport and Logistics on his recent appointment as a Special Adviser to the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Prof. Odewumi's role will involve overseeing the supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Electric Designed Vehicles to Nigerian tertiary institutions and Universities.
The appointment was acknowledged through an official notification letter, referenced as NUC/ES/426/Vol.5/224 and dated March 20 2024. The letter not only recognises Prof. Odewumi's achievements but also highlights the esteemed status of Lagos State University, particularly its School of Transport and Logistics, as a global centre of excellence.
Expressing her delight, Prof. Olatunji-Bello commended the appointment as a testament to Prof. Odewumi's outstanding leadership skills and expertise in the field. She expressed confidence in his ability to excel in this new role, emphasising that his selection will significantly contribute to the advancement of Nigerian tertiary institutions and universities.

Prof S.G. Odewumi is a renowned Professor of Transport Planning and Policy. He has served as a Director in the Centre for Planning Studies, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Universities, and Senior Research Fellow at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Abuja. He also served as the Dean School of Transport and Logistics, LASU, 2012-2021.
