LASUSU organises Academic Symposium, Freshers' Debate

The event was aimed at encouraging students to think critically and explore opportunities beyond the classroom.

THE Lagos State University (LASU) was buzzing with excitement as students gathered for the Academic Symposium and Freshers Debate organised by the Lagos State University Student Union (LASUSU)'s Academics Committee on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

The event was aimed at encouraging students to think critically and explore opportunities beyond the classroom.

The day started with patriotic songs sung by the LASUSU Vice-President, Comr. Oladiran Mercy O. (Boss Lady). The symposium began with a keynote speech by the Acting Dean of Students Affairs, Surajudeen Abiodun Fatai, on the theme: "Prospect Portal: Navigating Beyond the Four Walls of LASU, followed by a debate among representatives from different Faculties. However, the Faculty of Law emerged as the winner after a lively exchange of ideas.

The symposium also featured a panel session, where the panellists, Mr Boluwatife Carry, Mr Olaniyi Mubarak, and Amb. Adeyemi Shukroh, contributed insightful perspectives and engaged in a robust discussion while addressing questions posed by the audience.

Overall, the Academic Symposium and Freshers Debate provided students with a platform to share ideas, develop debating skills, and broaden their horizons, and reflected LASU's commitment to fostering intellectual growth and holistic development among its students.
