Having attained the position of the First Citizen of the prestigious Lagos State University in September 2021 after an impressive and fulfilling 35-year career as a Professor of Physiology, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello’s administration has brought significant and measurable development and growth in the LASU community, particularly in terms of infrastructure and conducive learning facilities and others, ranging from toilets to world class comprehensive health centre, as well as auditoriums in addition to ultra modern classrooms.
Beyond a glowing academic career, it is worth noting that Prof. Olatunji-Bello is the second female Vice-Chancellor in the 42-year history of the University.
Prof. Olatunj-Bello, through strategic foresight and unwavering commitment, has propelled LASU to unprecedented heights, with the University witnessing remarkable advancements across various spheres, cementing its status as a Citadel of Learning and Innovation, which has manifested in stellar academic performances all around, with the University ranking as the Best in West Africa for two consecutive years by the U.I Greenmetric Global Ranking and named Nigeria's most Digitally Advanced State University.
