WOGEFI/FCMB empowers LASU ENT students for entrepreneurial success

THE Women and Girls Empowerment Foundation International (WOGEFI), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) set up to provide empowerment for women and girls in Lagos State and beyond, in collaboration with the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, engaged 100-level entrepreneurial students at Lagos State University (LASU).

This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth.

During the well-attended event, Mr Friday Nwokolo, the National Sales Manager of Group Lending Business at FCMB, who is also the Head of Sales and Business Development at FCMB Microfinance Bank, took centre stage to not only engage with the students but also to offer tangible support. Three lucky students were awarded cash prizes, setting a precedent for future collaboration and support.

Mr Nwokolo reiterated FCMB's commitment to being a steadfast partner in the entrepreneurial journey of the students. Beyond monetary rewards, FCMB pledged to provide ongoing mentoring and soft skill loans, recognising the importance of holistic support in nurturing budding entrepreneurs.

Dr Olawunmi OniBuraimoh, the visionary founder of WOGEFI, shared invaluable insights with the students, encapsulated in five essential tips for their entrepreneurial journey: Mentoring, Support Services, Experience, Personal Attributes, and Funding (MSEPF). WOGEFI and FCMB, in alignment with these principles, have pledged to provide comprehensive support encompassing mentoring, access to support services, hands-on experience, personal development attributes, and funding opportunities.
