THE Federal Ministry of Tourism has appointed Prof. Tunji Azeez, the Dean of the School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts, and Culture Studies, Lagos State University as a Member of the newly constituted committee for the review of the National Tourism and Hospitality Policy of Nigeria and the Tourism Development Master Plan.
Prof. Azeez's appointment was conveyed in a letter dated April 17, 2024, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, James Sule, on behalf of the Honourable Minister, Lola Ade-John.
The committee, which will be inaugurated on Thursday, April 25, 2024, will serve as a bridge between policy objectives and practical implementation, ensuring policies are well-crafted, legally sound, and aligned with organisational and Governmental goals.
Expressing her delight at the news, the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Prof. Azeez on his appointment while expressing confidence that he would leverage his wealth of experience to make positive contributions to the committee's work, which would also benefit the newly established School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts, and Culture Studies under his leadership.
This prestigious appointment underscores Prof Azeez's expertise and recognition within the tourism and hospitality sector, positioning him as a key player in shaping the future of Nigeria's tourism industry.
